Old Donner feels pretty bad about the way he's treated Rudolph and decides to go out and look for his little buck. Mrs. Donner wants to come along, but Donner insists this is "man's work." No sooner does he leave the house, however, than Mrs. Donner and Clarice decide to set out on their own.
When they crash on the Island of Misfit Toys, Rudolph and Hermey meet a winged lion named King Moonracer who brings unwanted toys to the island until he can find homes and children who will love them.
YUKON CORNELIUS: Fog's as thick as peanut butter.
HERMEY: You mean pea soup.
YUKON CORNELIUS: You eat what you like and I'll eat what I'll like.
Apparently, real cowboys don't ride ostriches.
MRS. CLAUS: Papa, you haven't touched a morsel. I'll have to take this suit in. Eat!
SANTA: I'm busy, Mama. It's almost Christmas.
MRS. CLAUS: Whoever heard of a skinny Santa? Eat. Eat!
Yukon Cornelius' dog sled is pulled by 5 dogs: A Collie, a Dachshund, a Cocker Spaniel, a Saint Bernard, and a Toy Poodle.
YUKON CORNELIUS: Observe the Bumble's one weakness. [The Bumble puts one foot into the water, then sinks.] The bumble sinks! Ha ha!
Charlie states that his name is the reason he is a misfit toy, claiming that no child wants to play with a Charlie-in-the-Box. In the special's extended ending (added in 1965), he and the rest of the misfit toys are shown being picked up by Santa Claus and delivered to the homes of children who would like to play with them.
