While Melissa Mathison was visiting her husband, Harrison Ford, on location, Speilberg presented her with a story idea he had. During shooting breaks, they wrote the script for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

The Last Crusade was released in 1989 and the next movie in the franchise, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not released until 2008, 19 years later.

Nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, Raiders of the Lost Ark won five: Best Art Direction, Film Editing, Sound, Visual Effects and a Special Achievement Award for Sound Effects Editing.

Speilberg and Kate Capshaw, who played Winnie in The Temple of Doom, married in 1991. They have a total of seven children in their combined family.
