Pua is traumatized by Moana's first attempt to conquer the reef and vanishes for most of the movie.

As Manta Rays dance around her, Gramma Tala tells Moana: "When I die, I'm going to come back as one of these or I chose the wrong tattoo!"

Maui autographs Moana's oar, carving his signature with the nearest object he can find -- a chicken. "I'm gonna use a bird to write with," he explains, "it's called tweeting."

When the Kakamora attack their boat, Heihei swallows the heart, making himself the target of the coconut monsters. Heihei is kidnapped, and Moana rushes to save him. They make it back to the boat, and once they do, Heihei spits out the heart.

As Maui struggles to shape-shift with his newly recovered fish hook, he briefly turns into Sven the reindeer.

Tamatoa is a villainous 50-foot crab that covets all things shiny.

Flounder, Ariel's sidekick in The Little Mermaid, makes a cameo near the end of the song amongst some cardboard fishes in Maui's fantasy sequence.

Disney didn't open up auditions for Maui -- they only wanted Johnson and reached out to him directly.

Alan Tudyk, who voices Heihei the rooster, is the only main cast member who isn't of Polynesian descent. All other main cast members are of at least partial Polynesian or New Zealand descent.

As Maui jumps into the Realm of Monsters, he shouts "Cheehoo!" It's the "Samoan Holler", an expression of excitement rooted in Samoa, and often heard in Hawaii. It's the first Disney animated film to use a Samoan Holler. It could easily be mistaken for a Goofy Holler, which has shown up in many Disney Films.
