Wanting Mulan to succeed, Mushu forges an order from Shang's father, General Li, ordering Shang to follow the main imperial army into the mountains. The reinforcements set out, but arrive at a burnt-out encampment and discover that General Li and his troops have been massacred by the Huns.
Mulan is able to sneak herself and the trio into the palace dressed as concubines.
After wiping out the Huns in an avalanche, Captain Li Shang presents the sword of Shan Yu to the Emperor of China. However, Shan Yu's pet, Hayabusa the Falcon, snatches the sword and returns it to its owner, who is perched on the rooftop of the Emperor's Palace.
Having become enamored with Mulan, Shang soon arrives under the pretext of returning her helmet.
