The Manx is a breed of cat with a genetic mutation of the spine. Although cats of this breed are sometimes born with a normal tail, they are most often born with either a tiny stub or no tail at all. This spinal defect also produces a noticeable arch from the shoulders to the rump, causing the Manx to hop somewhat when running, giving it an almost rabbit-like stride.
The Persian cat has the longest and thickest fur of any domestic cat. Its topcoat may grow up to five inches long, making it extremely difficult for the cat to maintain itself. As a result, Persian cats must be groomed daily by their owners and receive regular baths. In addition, their eyes must be checked regularly for problems which may develop from the hair constantly getting in their eyes.
Stubbs the cat became mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska in July 1997. As of 2016, Stubbs is still mayor, but his position is honorary since the town is only a "historical district". Mayor Stubbs has a nice ring to it doesn't it?
