A young Madeleine Swann witnesses the murder of her mother at the hands of Lyutsifer Safin, who is trying to avenge his own family, who was murdered by Madeleine's father, Mr. White.

After Safin kills her mother, Madeleine flees and falls through the ice of a frozen lake. The assassin follows her, but instead of killing the young girl, he pulls her from the lake and spares her life.

Madeleine convinces Bond to visit Vesper Lynd's tomb, insisting that he has to let her go if they are going to have any kind of future together. Bond agrees, but there are SPECTRE assassins waiting at the tomb to ambush him.

Bond's Aston Martin DB5 is equipped with M134 miniguns that pop out of the front headlights, a mine dispenser on the rear bumper, and of course a classic smokescreen device.
