Emmitt's wife Patricia was previously married to actor-comedian Martin Lawrence, making Emmitt the stepfather to Lawrence's daughter Jasmine.
Smith has one date every year reserved for his honor in his hometown of Pensacola, Fla. The day after Smith was drafted by the Cowboys, Pensacola declared that April 23 would forever be known as Emmitt Smith Day.
