Bond discovers Moneypenny dead during a terrorist attack on MI6. Fortunately, it's just part of a simulated training exercise using Q's new VR glasses.
007's ring is an ultra-high frequency single digit sonic agitator unit capable of emitting a high pitch sound that can shatter even bulletproof glass.
In addition to the usual refinements, Bond's Aston Martin is also equipped with "adaptive camouflage" -- a cloaking device that allows it to become effectively invisible at the push of a button.
M sends Miranda Frost, who is actually an MI6 operative, to accompany Bond. Initially, Frost does not approve of Bond's methods, but when he is nearly caught by Mr. Kil, she helps Bond stay incognito by kissing him. They later spend the night together in Miranda's suite to keep up the pretense that they are lovers.
Gustav Graves is actually Colonel Tan-Sun Moon who secretly survived his confrontation with Bond in North Korea. Like Zao, he has undergone gene therapy in order to establish a new identity, but the therapy has robbed him of the ability to sleep.
To counter fatigue and psychological trauma caused by sleep deprivation, Graves uses a Dream Machine to mesmerize him into a state of REM without the normal accompanying sleep and prevent him from slipping into insanity.
When 007 was in North Korea, it was Miranda Frost who secretly sent Bond's true identity to Moon's right-hand man, Zao, leading to Bond's imprisonment and torture. Graves had previously earned her allegiance by murdering her fencing competition at the Olympics and assuring her a gold medal.
During a car chase through the ice palace, Zao falls into the icy water below. He manages to escape his sinking car, but when he reaches the surface Bond shoots an ice chandelier above his head, which falls on Zao, killing him instantly.
