Lazar is a Portuguese gunsmith living in Macau who probably conceived Scaramanga's Golden Gun and manufactures golden bullets for his assassinations.
After watching the mysterious Miss Anders collect a shipment of Scaramanga's custom-made gold bullets from a casino in Macau, Bond follows her back to her hotel in Hong Kong and walks in on her as she showers. Startled, she opens the shower door, points a Beretta at him, and demands a bathrobe.
Mary Goodnight initially avoids Bond's advances, but her playing hard to get doesn't last long. Bond is pleased to find her waiting in his hotel room but forces her to hide in his wardrobe closet when Miss Anders shows up moments later.
The Bottoms Up Club serves as a meeting point between Lieutenant Hip and Gibson, a British solar energy expert, shortly before Gibson is murdered outside the club by Francisco Scaramanga.
The solex agitator is part of a larger device with the potential to harness solar power and solve the 1973 energy crisis.
When Bond enters Hai Fat's estate, he is attacked by two sumo wrestlers. He manages to fight them off, but is hit over the head and knocked out by Nick Nack, who was disguised as a miniature statue.
After escaping with the aid of Hip and his nieces, Bond speeds away on a motorized sampan along the river and reunites with his assistant, Mary Goodnight. Scaramanga subsequently kills Hai Fat with his golden gun and assumes control of his empire, taking the Solex with him.
As Bond tries to escape from Hai Fat's goons in a slow-moving boat, a young Thai boy swims up and clambers aboard, trying to sell him a wooden elephant. Bond offers twenty-thousand Baht if he can speed the boat up. The kid turns a valve and the boat goes faster. Bond tips the kid overboard. "I'm afraid I'll have to owe you," he shouts over his shoulder.
